Nadal is now just one grand slam behind Federer's record

In January of 2010, Roger Federer had 16 grand slams to his name and Rafael Nadal had six. Now, though, Federer is feeling the breath of Nadal behind him as that gap reduced to one this Sunday with the Spaniard's US Open victory over Daniil Medvedev. Only one title separates the two tennis greats after Nadal's fourth American major took him onto 19 grand slams, while Novak Djokovic is a little further behind with 16. The beginning of next season is exciting and the mid-January Australian Open will bring the story back into the limelight. It'll be the first time that the Spaniard will have had the chance to level with the Swiss, but Djokovic has warned that he wants to be in the conversation too. For now, though, it's Nadal and Federer at the top of the game. "I don't know if I'm going to win another one at 38," Federer said after falling out of this year's US Open. "I don't have a crystal ball."

Nadal digs deep to win the US Open

It seemed that Rafael Nadal was cruising to victory in the 2019 US Open final against Daniil Medvedev, but the Russian came back from two sets down to force a fifth set and that's when the world number two eventually got the job done. Nadal won the match in New York 7-5, 6-3, 5-7, 4-6, 6-4, a contest that lasted four hours and 48 minutes. It was an incredible match, with Medvedev doing a brilliant job to stay in it after Nadal won a tight first set and a more comfortable second set. The Spaniard even led 3-1 in the third, but Medvedev was able to keep firing and he embarked on a run that took Nadal some time to stop. Nadal broke his opponent in a 28-shot rally to go 3-2 up in the decisive set, but the drama wasn't done there. They each lost their serve once more, before Nadal served for his fourth US Open championship - and eventually sealed the deal.

PSG reject Barcelona's latest Neymar offer

Despite the recent developments in negotiations between PSG and Barcelona, Neymar Jr is still a long way from a return to the Catalan club. New deal on the table Barcelona were optimistic on Tuesday that a deal would be reached after tabling an offer including Rakitic and Dembélé in a deal worth 150 million euros paid in installments. However, according to RMC Sports, PSG have rejected the offer, despite reports to the contrary in L'Équipe that PSG have not yet given an answer. PSG's demands Moreover, PSG's stance in negotiations remains the same: either Barça accept their demands or the Brazilian will play in Paris over the coming season. PSG want a one-off €170m-euro payment which would also have to include players from the Barça squad. In addition to having to meet these demands, Los Culés must convince Ousmane Dembélé to go on loan to PSG given that the French forward has openly said he wants to stay in Barcelona.

Neymar transfer: Barcelona offer €130 million plus Rakitic and Dembélé

Neymar's future is in the hands of Ousmane Dembelé and the Emir of Qatar, Tamim ben Hamad Al Thani - the two men who can unblock the Brazilian's move back to Barcelona or leave him stuck for another season at PSG. Barcelona and PSG remain in touch According to reports in L'Equipe, Barcelona and PSG continue in conversations at a distance after yesterday's meeting in Paris, where the two sides laid out their positions and tried to reach a mutually satisfying understanding. The player has been valued at 170 million euros, a figure that is accepted by both parties - the problem now is to reach an agreement over how Barcelona cover that amount. And that led to two separate conversations once the meeting in Paris broke up. PSG's sporting director Leonardo got in touch with the Emir Al Thani, the man who has the last word on the deal for PSG. Meanwhile the Barcelona delegation, led by club manager Oscar Grau, returned to Barcelona with the aim of convincing D

Real Madrid are in Paris to discuss Neymar

Negotiations are underway in Paris as Real Madrid's representatives have travelled to France in order to speak with Paris Saint-Germain about Neymar. Los Blancos are optimistic, without having given much away about the talks. Barcelona have been trying for a number of weeks to find an offer that satisfies PSG, but they're yet to find anything that comes close. Madrid, meanwhile, have been waiting until the last few days to make their move. Madrid are convinced that they'll find PSG willing to sell to them, due to their poor relationship with the Catalans and Neymar's public desire to leave. But those at Barcelona expect another gesture from Neymar, this time to make his preference towards a Camp Nou move clear, but the Brazilian doesn't want to jeopardise his departure and just wants out of the Parc des Princes. With just 11 days of the window remaining, no significant progress has been made yet, meaning that things will need to pick up pace soon. Pla

Sowore, Nnamdi Kanu plotted to topple Buhari — SSS

The State Security Services (SSS) has challenged the Federal High Court order, allowing it to detain Omoyele Sowore, Convener, #RevolutionNow protests, for 45 days against its request of 90 days pending investigation. The SSS argued that its investigation so far revealed that “RevolutionNow” was allegedly a smokescreen for the actual intention of Mr Sowore and his allies “to topple the government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.” The DSS said it was engaged in a painstaking investigation of activities of Mr Sowore, the candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in the last presidential election, in view of the quantum of evidence so far gathered and may return to court to seek an extension of the 45 days granted by the Abuja-based court to detain him. The security agency made this known in a fresh document it filed at the Federal High Court on Monday in response to an application by Mr Sowore. In the counter-affidavit deposed to by Godwin Agbadua, an official of the S
