Coronavirus: Nigeria records second death

Nigeria has recorded another death from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire, has said. The minister said this at the first joint national briefing of the Presidential Task Force in Abuja on Monday. ”Till date, three persons have been discharged after successful treatment but sadly, another fatality was recorded over the weekend in the person of a patient who had severe underlying illnesses,” he said. This brings the number of deaths in Nigeria to two. Nigeria recorded its first COVID-19 death in a 67-year-old male who returned home following medical treatment in the UK. Nigeria has recorded 111 cases of Covid-19 as of Monday morning. The presidential committee was set up by President Muhammadu Buhari to spearhead the coordination of anti-Covid-19 activities in the country.

Coronavirus: Governor Seyi Makinde tests positive for COVID-19

Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde has tested positive for coronavirus. He made the announcement via his Twitter handle. “I just received my COVID-19 confirmation test result. It is POSITIVE. I am asymptomatic and will continue to self-isolate. “I have designated Prof Temitope Alonge, former Chief Medical Director of the University College, Ibadan, as the Head of COVID-19 Task Force while I recover fully. Please continue to comply with all the directives from the COVID-19 Task Force. Stay home, stay safe.”

Canadian PM's wife has recovered from coronavirus illness

   Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's wife said Saturday that she has recovered from being ill from COVID-19 disease caused by the new coronavirus. “I am feeling so much better,” Sophie Gregoire Trudeau said in a statement on social media. She said she received the clearance from her doctor and Ottawa Public Health. Trudeau's office announced on March 12 that she had tested positive for the coronavirus after she fell ill upon returning from a trip to London. The prime minister and his family have been in self isolation at home since then. He and their three children didn't show symptoms. Justin Trudeau has been giving daily news conferences outside his residence. COVID-19: Cristiano Ronaldo and Juventus squad give up $100 million in wages amid coronavirus outbreak

With football on hold across the world, Juventus' first-team squad and coach Maurizio Sarri have agreed to give up four months' wages to help the club manage the economic impact of the coronavirus pandemic. Juventus say the agreement -- equal to the monthly payments for March, April, May and June -- will save the club a total of €90 million ($100.5 million). All sport in Italy has been canceled until at least April 3 but Juve says it will renegotiate with players "in good faith" should the current season be rescheduled and resumed. COVID-19 : Buhari to make broadcast 7pm today

PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari will broadcast to the nation today Sunday, March 29, 2020 at 7pm. Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Chief Femi Adesina disclosed this in a statement on Sunday. According to him, “Television, radio and other electronic media outlets are enjoined to hook up to the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) respectively for the broadcast.”

COVID-19: Immigration boss Babandede tests positive for Covid-19

Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Muhammad Babandede has tested positive for the deadly Coronavirus (COVID-19) days after he returned from the United Kingdom. A statement from the media office of the service made available to Vanguard on Sunday morning signed by Mr Sunday James, said Babandede had since gone into isolation.
